Welcome to the Music Is Everything podcast.
Nu jazz, house, broken beats, funk, brazillian, afro-beat, soul jazz and jazz are all represented here. Whether you call them dance or soul music, they all share commom roots and have the same passion woven throughout. When you stand back, it's beautiful to see and hear how all of the dots are connected. While we strive to bring you the latest in future soul, it is also important to acknowledge where it comes from. This podcast is almost 100% vinyl, except for a few occasional odds and ends that I only have on cd. Enjoy.

Welcome to another edition of MIE, I've got a set of very moody tracks for you this week, just the sort of mind–set that I was in. We're gonna start off with my current favorite track, "Scale it back", by DJ Shadow, which features the lovely vocals of Yukimi Nagano. Also, new stuff from Robert Glasper and Esperanza Spalding. As always, thanks for listening. For a complete playlist and to subscribe to MIE click here.

About
Chris Galvan is a dj/record collector based in San Antonio, Texas. He began experimenting with mixing records in 2000, but he had already been a collector of vinyl for ten years prior. As is demonstrated in the podcast, Chris' taste in music leans towards jazzy/soulful/afro/latin sounds. Chris is a strong proponent of the nu jazz movement, which eschews genres in dance/soul music in favor of creating an umbrella, under which a wide variety of artists/musicians can be included. These artists share a musical aesthetic which values musicianship and is proud of its jazz roots.
